Walk in Derbyshire's Dovedale
- Monday 6th July -
Seven intrepid souls, including some new faces to the group, turned up at Milldale car park in the heart of the Peak District for the walk.
We set off on the 3½ mile outbound leg to Dovedale in slight drizzle.

No problem - out came the wet weather gear and we carried on regardless.
The walk along the River Dove is, I think, one of the nicest in the country.

We are 45 minutes into the walk when get caught in one heck of a thunderstorm,
we have no option but to take shelter and wait for it to pass - and pass it did.

Out came the sun and we were on our way again enjoying taking in the sights along the way - Ilam Rock, Tissington Spires, the caves and of course the famous stepping stones.
On the way we bumped into a great group of youngsters doing their
Duke of Edinburgh Award work, it was nice to see them enjoying themselves.

We now crossed the stepping stones, and on up to the Izaak Walton Hotel for a bite to eat.
Down came the rain again, but by the time we were ready for the return leg the sun was shining again so off came the wets.

We arrived back at Milldale around 3:30, well pleased with our walk despite getting wet a couple of times. Hardy folk us Manchester Associates.
Many thanks to all who came on the walk - Ian & Angela Beardow, Charles & Mavis Bretnall, Chris Rickman and Christine Heap.
