North East Associates
take a break in North Wales

- 12th to 16th November -

Weston-super-Mare was our original choice for this holiday, but accomodation problems there required a quick change so Llandudno was chosen.  Here just four years ago, this visit was much more enjoyable - the weather was warm and sunny most of the time, and dry throughout.  Didn't try the sea, though!

With more hiccups after leaving Tyneside, these resulting in an extended motorway services stop, we eventually arrived in Chester for a late lunch before continuing to
'The Bay County Hotel' in Llandudno, situated on the sea-front mid-way between a crocodile and an elephant.
About two-hundred people were at the hotel.
Our baker's dozen was but a few in this number.

This is the 'crocodile', and to the west - The Great Orme . . . .

Our time there was spent in and on the town, and in tourist spots in the area:-

    Castle Square

We came here
We left the mainland and crossed the Menai Strait on the Britannia Bridge

Vivian Quarry

as a quarry the
'Vivian Dive Centre'
operates here
with dive training
to 22 metres
in this stunning,
and possibly frightening,

Let the train take the strain' - The Llanberis Lake Railway takes you
on an hour-long return trip on the shores of Llyn Padarn

Diminutive steam loco 'Elidir' from slate-working days is ready to go!

A good head of steam - and they're off!

The National Slate Museum on the same site takes you back to the days of slate-working in the area - fortunately without the dust, water and dirt.

On departure-day

'Colin's Quiz', daily, was enjoyed by all, everyone receiving at least one prize, with evening jollity in the hotel lounge to round off each day.

. . . . and here's the 'elephant' - The Little Orme - to the east
