A Walk to Odiham Castle
for South East Associates
- 8th April -
This was a sunny morning with a good attendance of seventeen Associates who gathered on the green at Warnborough for a five mile circular walk in the countryside, taking in part of the Basingstoke Canal.

The walking group at Odiham Castle
The first stage of the walk headed through woodland to eventually arrive at the westerly, and closed, section of the Basingstoke Canal. We followed the canal to the Greywell Tunnel - which collapsed in the 50's and now houses a large bat colony - and from here crossed over the hill passing Greywell House.
A section in open countryside followed joining the canal at the eastern end of Greywell Tunnel and returning along the canal towpath passing the ruins of Odiham Castle.

We finished up with a pleasant lunch at The Fox and Goose and all agreed that it had been a pleasant walk.
