Wargrave & Crazies Hill Walk
- Thursday 9th July -
On a cloudy but dry day and on the hill - Crazies Hill! - above the Thames at Wargrave, fourteen Associates, spouses and friends assembled for a very pleasant walk through the woods, fields and local golf course.

We saw a local example of "Well Dressing" near Crazies Hill village, where in the 19th century the local community constructed a decorated shelter about and around the local water-supplying well, inscribing it with the story of Rebecca and Abraham.
On "Penny's Lane" we were surrounded with white fluff on the path and in the trees - it looked at first as if there had been feud between two sheep flocks until Brian Breakspear informed us that this was the means by which hazel and poplar trees spread their seeds. A rare occurrence, which we were fortunate to see.

Further on, we took a look at the fine broodmares and colts grazing at Juddmonte Farm - one of six owned by Prince Kahlid Abdullah of the Saudi Royal family.
We lunched at the excellent local pub, "The Horn", and enjoyed a fine pint of the best that Brakspears (no relation!) brewery provides.
