South East Associates
take an
Azalea Walk in Windsor Great Park and then Lunch at the Belvedere
- April 22nd -
Spring! It almost felt like summer.
Gentle breezes and cloudless blue skies when twenty-nine eager
South East Associates rendezvoused at The Belvedere Arms
on this balmy spring morn, ready to amble the bridle paths into
Windsor Great Park for a couple of hours or so; in the company of riders,
dog walkers, speed walkers and lots of mums pushing buggies.
Passing sparkling green lakes, reflecting azure skies, and to the sound of birdsong, we ascended to the Valley Gardens towards Smith's Lawn; winding through the colourful rhododendron plantations; encountering beautiful vistas exposed between newly greening foliage.
What a treat when our destination came into view - steep valley sides of rainbow coloured azaleas which drew us down to the bottom of the "Punchbowl" for our photo shoot.
An artist's pallet of beauty as colourful as any painting by van Gogh.
Slowly descending,
we skirted
the lake
and took
our way back
for lunch
at the
Belvedere.
Splendid weather,
great company
and good food,
enjoyed by
one and all.
