London Associates Golf Day at Burstead
On Wed 30th March 21 players turned out for our Golf day which was held at The Burstead Golf Club the weather was just what Charlie Dowsett ordered bright sunshine with a South to South Westerly breeze.
We started our day with the usual Coffee and Bacon rolls whilst we sorted out the teams and which holes we were going to use for the longest drive, nearest the pin etc. We started at the tenth tee as the ladies always go of the first at about 09.30 and it just so happened that we had chose this hole for the longest drive with an old club that I had purchased from a charity shop (everybody had to use this old club on this hole).
I was first on the Tee with the yellow ball and that was lost with the first strike of the game. Then other yellow balls where lost on the second and third holes we did manage to get one yellow ball back and that team was John Illing, Bernard Melly, Allen Lawton and Tony Hills.
Nearest the pin on the 15th hole was won by Gary Reynolds, then we had nearest the pin in two shots on the 5th hole and that was won by Peter Thain and Dave Poysden won the longest drive with the old club.
The overall winner was Ray Russell with 31 points and he also gets to hold the P&G Shield for the year, runner up was Bernard Melly with 29 points. Mick Roach and Ray Russell won the blind pairs.
Then it was all back to the clubhouse for Ham Egg and Chips and a pint and the presentation.
Another great day and well done to all the winners and thanks to all those people that had to travel some distance today.
Next Golf Day is Wed 19th Oct.
