The duty Safety Officer gives the Health & Safety briefing. London Associates had volunteered to collect the money (for charities supported by the plant) on the hamburger and drinks stalls, and also had a pitch giving details of the Associate scheme. George Mann, Brian Relf, Dave Risk, Mav Mills and Tony Hill were there for the initial briefing. Linda Illing, Tony Kennard and Tony Lees came along later to help with the Associate duties, and members of the Church Team (Reg Lee, Tom Padwick, and Brian
Eames) were on duty to show visitors around St. Clements. Chris Harrold was also at the church to sign copies of the new edition of "The Story of St Clements" that Chris had written. By the 10 am start for the day it had clouded over a bit, but the weather remained dry throughout the day, and by the 4 pm close it had become quite hot.

Most of the 500 plus visitors took part in the guided tour of the site which took in all the main modules with experts at key locations to explain the processes, many of which were running. Displays and stalls were set up in the car park, and a couple of clowns and some face painters were on hand for the younger guests. The Fire Engine, Police Car and Ambulance attracted a lot of interest, especially from the youngsters who delighted in sounding the sirens. There was a very popular raffle with prizes of products from the Company Shop, and volunteers from St Lukes Hospice were selling tickets for the Community Charity Draw which has a Vauxhall Corsa as the main prize, which was also on display. It was a very successful day and, as for the Associates, it had been a great chance to see all the changes that have taken place in the plant.
