THE LONDON TRAMPERS AT GREAT STAMBRIDGE
MONDAY OCTOBER 4th 2010
A good turnout considering most of the week leading up to the walk it had rained consistently, but we were lucky, there was a break in the weather.

The Royal Oak
Twenty eight of us turned up at the Royal Oak

Early arrivals

and by the time we sorted ourselves out with the pre ordering of lunch nineteen of us decided we were fit enough to handle the walk safely. The slippery conditions expected just might have been enough to put off those with problems, but we always value their support.

The usual photograph taken we started off up the first section which took us on a grassy track up the side of a field onto a farm track back to the main road.

So far so good, reasonable going without getting too messed up. That would change later! Now into the second part of the walk more grassy tracks, then about a quarter of a mile straight across the middle of a ploughed field. Here amongst us we must have transported a hundredweight of mud from one side of the field to the other!! A quick clean-up and back down a track along the side of horse paddocks and onto the pub.

In the pub after the walk.

We were looked after well by the landlady who was impressed by the number who had turned up considering the weather. The food and service were excellent and a good day was had by all.
