THE LONDON TRAMPERS AT LITTLE WARLEY
So there we were suited and booted for a wet and sloppy walk, and then the sun came out. Who said the sun only shines on the righteous? The walk was brought to my attention by Alan and Alison Reader who live in the village and they kindly offered to share it with us.
Thirty of us met at the local pub "The Greyhound", a traditional country pub to group up, pre-order our meals and move off at a leisurely pace.

Twenty seven of us were able to do the walk leaving three to guard our tables in the pub. The weather over the weekend had been horrendous with rain and wind. We were expecting conditions to be pretty bad, but the sun decided to make an appearance. We did get wet but with sweat. During the walk Alison was able to point out a lot of property and focal points, some of which had family ties to her farming background. Then it was up the slopes into the wooded areas of the Thorndon Park, which spread us out a bit at times. Then an oasis, the teashop in the middle of the park and a welcome cuppa.

A welcome break in the autumn sunshine.

At Thorndon Park Visitor Centre.
From here the best bit of the walk, (down hill), out of the woods and across the common back to the pub. A welcome pint, a good lunch and the friendly atmosphere crowned a good day.
