London Plant Associates
go to the RAF Museum at Hendon,
with an alternative drop off at
the Brent Cross Shopping Centre.
Wednesday 24th February
Today we had a choice of two venues Brent Cross Shopping Centre and Hendon Royal Air Force Museum. Brent Cross was the forerunner for the Lakeside Shopping Centre in Thurrock, Essex and for Bluewater in Dartford, Kent. Before going to the Hendon Museum we stopped at Brent Cross to let off 6 persons. 28 Associates and guests went on to Hendon.
The Royal Air Force Museum's London Site at Hendon is vast and it is really impossible to see everything in just one visit. With over 100 aircraft in five buildings, this is the only place in London where you can get close to so many aircraft free, including the iconic machines that fought on both sides of the Battle of Britain. Below, a few of the exhibits we saw that illustrate the range of the displays, from authentic aircraft to posters and models illustrating historic events linked to aviation.

The Curtis Kittyhawk IV - despite appearances this was an RAF fighter.

Monsieur Bleriot.
The award winning Milestone of Flight Exhibition traces the history of aviation from the earliest gliders to today's Eurofighter Typhoon. It includes our timeline of milestone in aviation, cutting-edge screen displays, plus iconic aircraft from the USA, Germany, Japan and France. Step through into the Bomber Hall and be astounded by the mighty Lancaster and Vulcan Bombers. Be transported by the Chinook exhibition in Historic Hangers. The RAF Museum London is located in Colindale, North London, the historic site of the original London Aerodrome, and is London's only tourist attraction, and Britain's only national air museum, dedicated to aviation.
