Derek Germaney's Photographs
Posted: 01 September 2006
Derek's hobby is photography, and we are very lucky to have him as our "official" photographer for our social events.
Derek's photos feature regularly in our trip reports on the web, in the magazine, and even in the headers on some of our web pages - such as "Estuary Sunset" above.
The story behind Estuary Sunset. The header photo at the top of this page is a fragment from an original composition by Derek. The full picture was taken by him when on an outing with the "Shell Photographic Section" to North Fambridge in Essex. Whilst all the other members of the club were in the "Ferry Boat Inn", enjoying the fayre, he sneaked out quietly, armed with his camera and tripod, down to the sea wall, set up and took some quick shots before it all dissolved away for ever. In 1990 this composition was selected for the "Canon Camera Company's" November page of that year's calendar and won a £500 prize.
In this hobbies section of the website we display a wider collection of the photographer's art and skill. We hope you enjoy them.
