Although doubtful all week if the event would go ahead due to the rainfall levels over the last few weeks, the day started out dry and warm. The course was in surprisingly good nick, the greens fast and true, fairways nicely trimmed. The rough however was severe, due to the wet weather, and was probably the cause of the wide range of scores in the morning event. During the back end of the round the rain started and during the lunch break the heavens opened. Despite the conditions, 5 pairs braved the sometimes heavy downpours, and towards the end of the round, flooded greens. We had the course to ourselves, the only people daft enough to go out. Despite the conditions, good scores were posted in a keenly battled competition.

So the season is nearly over, the last event on the 15th September at Foxton, a course that handles the water well. It would be nice to see a full turn out as the number shave been disappointing for the last couple of events.Paul
