Captain's Report
Foxton Golf Club 15th September 2008
Last event of a year that’s flown over was organised at a costal course, on the off chance it may wet. This proving to be a wise decision, where a few inland courses are closed, Foxton was in excellent condition, despite being heavy in places. For those lucky enough to hit the fairways, preferred lies were in place, although not always required. The morning kicked of with the main, singles event, three trophies up for grabs. With a moderate wind, conditions were not easy, as the course was playing long. The winners as follows: Mick Doughty Memorial Trophy Stableford

M Yeomen |

For the afternoon session, a change of format was nominated, the competition being teams of 3. The two best scores were counted, each person being required to count at least 5 of there scores. On refection this figure should have been higher as it turned out to be the two best scores counting. The scoring proved to be close with only 3 points separating the top three teams.

B Dobson (Captain)/M Haefner/P Cushing |
76 pts |
As we forgot the longest drive and the nearest the pin in the morning, they were pushed back to the afternoon. Longest drive went to Mark Haefner, taking the title form Stan who had won the previous two, and nearest the pin to Stan.
As it is my last report, I would like to thank the band of regulars who make up the numbers; hopefully we can build up more interest next year and increase the attendance. Despite the weather this summer, we only got wet once, and hopefully you all enjoyed the schedule. We are looking to gather as a group to discus next years schedule and any other issues. Graham will send out the details, Morpeth being the venue, some tine in Nov/Dec.
Good luck for the rest of the year and will see you all in April 09 for the first event. Paul. Back to North East S&SC Events Listing>>
