Captain's Report

Goswick - 25th April 2008

Thank you for all those who played in the first event of the year at Goswick. It was a pleasure to play a dry course, with no holes in the greens. The weather held out even though the forecast for the afternoon was wet. Has to be windy though, after all it’s a link’s course, was testing without being to strong, but blowing across the course and very rarely helping.

Sixteen players took part, the morning event being the normal pound sweep. A wide range of scores were posted, the top three handling the testing condition were:

	1st	M Haefner	18 pts
	2nd	M Spears	17 pts
	3rd	P Shievals	16 pts

A good break for lunch and time to reflect on what could have been, before we set out on the main event. Again the scoring was varied, depending how you handled the wind and the hard fast greens. The winners:

	2nd	S Laidler	36pts (with a brilliant birdy/birdy finish)

Gross Competition

	1st	G Sorrie	82
	2nd	M Yeoman	83

Triers Competition(over 16 handicap)

	1st	A Pretty	35 pts
	2nd	I Scully	33 pts
